An Adventurer is a person who deliberately seeks out and relishes hazardous and exciting experiences.
Description[]
Adventurers are male and female, and are from all nations and social classes. Human, Elf and Dwarf Adventurers are the most common, but other races have also produced adventurers. Most Adventurers, though thrill-seeking and desirous of wealth, are fundamentally Good individuals. However, Neutral and Evil Adventurers also exist.[1] An example of an Evil adventurer would be Traskannd, who served the malevolent wizard Anakendis.[2]
An Adventurer has stepped out of conventional society, instead using their training to right wrongs, and gain fame and fortune in the process.[3][4] Adventurers are often hired by groups of people who urgently need assistance. Examples would be the merchant Big Jim Sun needing an adventurer to hunt the Yeti, or the villagers of Anvil hiring an adventurer to thwart Zagor.[5][6]
An archetypal Adventurer will usually be dressed in leather armour and carry a sword. They will also usually wear a backpack with food (Provisions) in it, and carry a lantern to light their way.[7][8]
Origins and Distribution[]
Adventurers can be found in every part of Titan. Some locations, such as Rimon and Port Blacksand, have Adventurers' Guilds where adventurers can find work and assistance. Adventurers often have to pay fees to retain the benefits of such guilds; such fees can be quite costly.[9][10][11] Other locations, such as Crystal City and Ashkyos, have markets and shops that specialize in supplying goods for adventurers; such shops attract numerous customers.[12][13]
Special Abilities[]
Adventurers are usually trained warriors. Other Adventurers are Rogues, who have the repertoire of thieving skills; Priests, who can call on their deities to give them special powers; and Wizards and Sorcerers, who have access to the energies called up by magic spells.[4]
