Amonour is a term used in Salamonis and other settlements in the Vale of Willow signifying a person's fame and fortune, and as such a constantly fluctuating value.[1][2][3]
At times and by some people, a high Amonour is considered almost as or more valuable than material wealth, and swearing by it is an indication of genuine honesty - rather like a priest swearing by his faith, it is beyond doubt or reproach. The inhabitants of Salamonis, such as Chadda Darkmane and Calorne Manitus, take respect for the ideal of Amonour very seriously.[1]
Amonour can be increased by performing daring heroic actions, which is a motivation for many inhabitants of Salamonis to become adventurers.[1][3]
Further Notes[]
- Jonathan Green noted that the concept of Amonour did not actually appear in the original Fighting Fantasy gamebooks, only in the novels.[4]
- The 2022 Steve Jackson gamebook Secrets of Salamonis features the concept of Amonour as part of its rules.[3]
