Black Lions were a type of large feline.
Description[]
Black lions were predators found where the grasses of hot plains meet the thick vegetation of jungles. They usually slept all day, languishing in some shady area high above the ground. At nighttime, they would descend trom their resting spots to hunt deer, boars and other nocturnal creatures.
They could run, leap and climb excellently, and are consequently very dangerous predators. Once a black lion is on the trail of its prey, there is little the hapless quarry can do to escape.
Some have tried to tame them, but with not much success, for black lions were as wild as enraged tigers.
Occasionally people have been able to separate some cubs from their mother, steal them and domesticate them for use as guardians or as an exotic pet. But black lions will never remain loyal to anyone for very long, and sooner or later would most like turn on their former master and attack them for revenge.[1]
A strange Black Lion was the obedient companion of the Lizard King of Fire Island.[2]
Origins and Distribution[]

It is not known whether Black Lions were the result of a wizard’s experiment or natural crossbreeding in the wild. What is certain, however, is that they were a cross between a black panther and a lion, a mix that made them the one of most dangerous of all the many big cats.
