Caêranos was a wood elf village in the south-west part of Darkwood Forest.[1][2] It was located in the tree-tops of the wood.
History[]
One winter's night, the young Aëren Tintathel, wearing a dark elf cloak and filled with hatred towards the surface world, stumbled across the village. Evading detection by the guards, Tintathel entered the village. Using his nascent powers of dark magic, Tintathel began to think of fire. Still thinking of fire and concentrating on the village, Tintathel managed to create a magical blaze which destroyed the village and killed numerous elves.[1][2]
Tintathel was seen walking around the burning village by the surviving elves, who initially did not recognise his true nature. After Tintathel had disappeared underground, the elves discovered Tintathel's discarded cloak. They realized that the sinister child was responsible for the destruction of Caêranos.[2]
Further Notes[]
- In the The Warlock of Firetop Mountain boardgame, the Elf Celerian is described as a refugee from Caêranos.[3] This implies Caêranos was never rebuilt after its destruction.
