The Craggen Heights (also known as the Craggen Mountains) are a mountain range in central Allansia.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]
Description[]
The Heights lie directly south of Trolltooth Pass, and southeast of Salamonis, the Forest of Yore and the Giant Mounds.[2][8] The Southern Plain and the Desert of Skulls lie to the west of the Craggen Heights, while the Flatlands lie to the east.[2] South of the Heights lies a group of low-lying hills dividing the Desert of Skulls from the Plain of Bronze.[9] The town of Warpstone lies on the edge of the Heights.[4]
They have been described as a range of "inhospitable highlands".[10] The terrain of the Craggen Heights largely consists of dangerous peaks, hazardous valleys and foul-smelling marshes.[11]
Inhabitants[]
The Craggen Heights are mainly populated by human-hating species such as orcs, hill goblins, craggeracks and eyeless archers.[10][11] Some humans make their home in the Heights, chiefly brigands and hill barbarians.[11]
Balthus Dire's base, the Black Tower, is positioned on Craggen Rock, the highest peak located in the Heights.[3]
The Black Tower is also the closest thing to a capital for the Kingdom of Craggen Rock, which is also located within the Craggen Heights, compromising of several small provinces ruled over by subordinates of Balthus Dire.[12] Wolfward, Hesperus Manor and Theggtown are all settlements within the kingdom.
In the past, there were several small cities at the southern edge of the Heights, near where the road between Warpstone and Wolftown is now located.[13]
