E.S.P. (Extra Sensory Perception) is first found in Fighting Fantasy lore as one of the twelve spells available for casting by the Hero of the gamebook The Citadel of Chaos.[1]
It enables the caster to read minds or detect objects or beings out of range of the ordinary senses. The caster's efforts can be foiled, however, if the spell is used nearby another source of psychic energy.
In the Advanced Fighting Fantasy system, E.S.P. is a level 2 spell. It wont allow the caster to read actual words or ideas, but can indicate a creature's emotions and general frame of mind. For example, it can reveal whether someone, who appears to be friendly, really is so. It cannot work on inanimate objects, unless they have some vestiges of intelligence. The power lasts for a maximum time of 1 minute.[2][3]
