The Giant Pitcher-Plant was a dangerous plant that seizes and kills other lifeforms.[1]
Description[]
The giant pitcher-plant resembled an enormous green vase surrounded by roots. The inside of its vase was lined with long, wickedly sharp spines. When someone disturbed these roots, a long tendril would whip out of the vase, try to seize the person, and drop them into the vase to be digested.[2]
If the giant pitcher-plant could hit its opponent it would wrap its tendril around its victim. Should it hit again, it would drop the victim into its vase, where the victim would be damaged every minute, as they were digested by the plant's acids.[2] If the victim tried to climb out, the spines on the inside of the Pitcher-Plant's vase will do them horrendous amounts of damage.[2]
Should the tendril be destroyed, it was easily to also destroy the vase. People trapped inside the vase could then be safely pulled out.[2]
The vase of the giant pitcher-plant contained a liquid that was a mixture of putrid rainwater and digestive acids. This liquid was of interest to herbalists and alchemists .[3] If the giant pitcher-plant was defeated, the liquid could be retrieved from the vase and used to create a vial of weak acid.[3] This acid will eat through flesh, cloth and wood but not glass, stone or metal. This acid could be used to dissolve an item, or thrown at an enemy in combat.[3]
