Green Dragons were a race of dragon.
Description[]
The typical green dragon would grow to about 25 metres in length, and their scales were a brilliant green. They tended to have a semi-ruff of up to four spines on either side of their head, each spine joined to the one next to it by folds of skin. They also possessed up to four parallel rows of spines down their back, merging into one row shortly before their tail and then stopping entirely about halfway down.
As with all dragons, their wingspan was easily that of their full length, and their tongue was not in fact forked - although it was far more pointed than other kinds - which was a common misconception. However, their eyes were still dangerous to gaze into without permission, as they could easily hypnotise people or crush their spirits.
The majority of green dragons could speak several languages, of both humanoid and animal races.
Origins and Distribution[]
Green dragons were lithe forest-dwellers, living in the depths of the forests and jungles of Titan. Only younger green dragons would be met with any degree of regularity (relative to the general rarity of dragons), as adults would tend to hide in the very heart of the largest forests and jungles, their hoards carefully stashed in forgotten ruins or caves swallowed up by the trees.[1]
They were amongst the most typical of the dragons, being neither friendly towards other races nor especially aggressive, enjoying little more than being the most voracious predator in the region, and driving out or killing any who might threaten their homes with an almost fanatical dedication.
Special Abilities[]
A green dragon had fire for its breath, using it often and burning their enemy should they fail to avoid. The fire breath of an adult dragon was more powerful than the breath of a young dragon, in terms of damage.
It has been pointed out that of green dragons their fiery breath may have been a handicap for a woods-dwelling creature. However, the natural cycle of fire being facilitated could well have been a forethought of Galana when requesting that this dragon be created for her. It should be remembered that the fire breath of a green dragon was very narrowly channelled[2] and thus could be used with both discretion and accuracy, avoiding unwanted fires and potential loss of habitat.[3]
Many adult dragons are apt to have some magical ability.
