The Hero of Crystal of Storms was an officer of the Sky Watch of Pangaria. The hero was born and raised on Pangaria and may have come from the farming island of Cirrus, the water island of Altos, or the trade island of Cumulus.

Growing up, they had friends from across Pangaria, including Altos and Cirrus. Unlike many of these friends who chose to join the specialist working communities of their home islands, the hero wanted to see it all rather than chosing a single island. As a result, they chose to join the Sky Watch, the guardians of Pangaria.

Despite longing for adventure, their first few weeks in the Sky Watch were tedious and uneventful, mediating minor disputes between neighbours (such as over overgrown shrubs) and finding missing pets, until Vizigg the Elder Technomancer called the entire Sky Watch together for a meeting.
