Spoiler Warning!!!: Plot and/or ending details of a Fighting Fantasy publication follow. Please DO NOT read this article if you do not want foreknowledge of this publication. Although the article below is based on canon, some of its content is considered extrapolation because it assumes a certain course of events through an adventure that has many possible routes. Finally, the use of "Hero" and other male- gender expressions pertaining to the subject in the article and/or title of the article is not intended to exclude the possibility that the hero was female.

"Spoiler!" Beware!

The Hero of Demons of the Deep was a doughty sailor with many years' experience as a mariner on all manner of vessels. Whilst first mate on the Sunfish, five days out of Port Blacksand, he or she was captured by pirates and thrown overboard to drown.[1] However, the hero was able to survive through magic and acquired enough artefacts from the undersea ruins of Atlantis to allow him or her to return to the surface and defeat the pirates' captain, Bloodaxe, and become the new captain of the Troll.[2]

It is theoretically possible for the hero to have taken part in other books either before or afterwards. However, few books can reasonably be supposed to have a sailor or ship's captain as a protagonist.
