Hero of Midnight Rogue

Although the article below is based on canon, some of its content is considered extrapolation because it assumes a certain course of events through an adventure that has many possible routes. Finally, the use of "Hero" and other male- gender expressions pertaining to the subject in the article and/or title of the article is not intended to exclude the possibility that the hero was female.

Hero of Midnight Rogue

The Hero of Midnight Rogue was an apprentice thief who had trained for years to enter the Thieves' Guild of Port Blacksand. His or her final initiation test was to find and steal an allegedly priceless gem, the Eye of the Basilisk.

In the adventure A Shadow Over Blacksand in the book Blacksand!, the option is given to have the Hero of Midnight Rogue as a player character in the adventure. The backstory for this adventure has the Hero exiled from Port Blacksand for his or her own safety. This is because in A Shadow over Blacksand, the Hero is described as accidentally killing one of the Kobassi brothers' bodyguards during a brawl in the The Hog and Frog Tavern. It is possible for the hero to have taken part in other books, either before or afterwards, but there are very few books in the main series which could conceivably have a thief or apprentice thief as a protagonist.
