Ice Demons were towering, telepathic ram-horned demons with an affinity for icy forms and climates.
Description[]
Although only Tertius (lesser) demons,[1] the ice demons were apparently among the largest in terms of physical stature. Their bodies, believed to be formed from an unnatural "amalgam of ice and flesh",[2] were always portrayed as solid and thickset, while in height the creatures usually stood at around twenty feet,[3] and were never less than twice the height of a human. They could remain motionless for ages, often being mistaken for statues.[2]
Indeed, with regard to physical bulk, ice demons might have been surpassed in size only by the great demon. Ice demons had also been described as having gigantic, bat-like wings, but it was unclear whether or not they could actually fly.[3]
In battle an ice demon fought with its fists. When defeated on the earthly plane their bodies shattered.[3]
The Nature of Ice Demons[]
Although massive in form, an ice demon was not among the strongest combatants, relative to other demons. Although they were certainly not weak, the creature's distinctive talents seemed to lie elsewhere. They were perhaps found in its ability to command and control other creatures, doubtlessly arising from its high intelligence and telepathic abilities.[3] In fact, one ice demon was found to be fervently worshipped by a motley cult located in the inhospitable caverns of the Icefinger Mountains.[4]

The creatures could also form themselves rather quickly from snow and ice, giving them the element of surprise over whatever prey they might be tracking through the wintry conditions found throughout Titan.[5] Ice demons actually hailed from the Plane of Obsidian,[2] one of the seven wretched planes charted in The Pit. This could well seem counter-intuitive, as the Plane of Obsidian appeared to be neighbouring the elemental Plane of Fire.[6] An ice demon was vulnerable to magical fire, as might be expected, however it was worth noting that the creature did not apparently have any especial vulnerability to natural fire. [2]
Special Rules[]
An ice demon was capable of hitting its opponent with its icy breath.[7]
Further Information[]
- Ice Demons were described as possessing massive wings,[3][2] but these were apparently absent from the encounters with the creature in Tower of Destruction and Talisman of Death.[8]
