Although Knights are common in the world of Titan, there is only one reference to Jousting in the whole of the Fighting Fantasy gamebooks.
This involves a group of Yigenik Knights who take part in a jousting tournament not far from Sharrabbas in Kazan.[1][2]
In Daggers of Darkness, the following rules are given for jousting with lances on horse-back:[3]
- Throw one die for each combatant
- The combatant with the highest score unhorses his/her opponent
- Although it is not stated, it may be assumed that the combatants must role again in the event of a tie
- The winner may choose to joust with another opponent, or may choose to retire from the competition
- The loser may not enter another contest
- The winner of any such contest wins 5GP
Jousting is mentioned in other Fighting Fantasy publications outside the gamebook canon. In Beyond the Pit, it is stated that the Death-Knight Champion of the Order of the Knights of Chaos in Ruddlestone, is "an expert in jousting with a lance".[4] The Citadel of Chaos (AFF) adventure mentions that jousting and archery competitions often take place in Salamonis.[5]
