Marsh Goblins, also known as Swamp Goblins, were a species of goblin that dwelt in swampy areas. Within the goblin world they were known as the Uggluk-jai.[1]
Description[]
They were similar to a common goblin, but thinner with green tinted scaly skin, and their hands and feet were webbed for swimming.
They were generally regarded as nasty, spiteful creatures who delighted in making war with neighbours such as the kokomokoa or setting up booby-traps to catch unwary travellers.[2][1]
Marsh goblins also despised their land-dwelling brethren and would usually attack the latter if they encountered them.[2]
Marsh goblins live in communal villages which were built from mud and reeds on raft-like platform floating on the surface of marsh/swamp water. The entrances to these dwellings were located underwater to deter intruders.
Marsh goblins worshipped several deities including Hashak, Sluurm and Vurrk. A favourite way for marsh goblins to dispatch a captive was to leave the unfortunate tied to a board in the middle of a swamp, and leave the captive for giant leeches or other marsh monsters to kill.[1]
Origins and Distribution[]
At Lake Nykosa, the tribe of marsh goblins of K'Amoole made their home.[3]
There was a large community of marsh goblins in the Vischlami Swamp in the Old World.[4]
They were also to be found in the marshlands of Khul.[5] [6]
