Nanka were a type of supernatural beings that are servants of the Evil Gods.[1]
Description[]
Like the suma they were invisible to mortals but should they wish to be seen they manifest themselves as a vague humanoid formed from thick black smoke in which a pair of dark eyes glint wickedly.[2]
It has been written that a favourite trap of the nanka was to hide in a glass phial as a genie hid in a lamp. When the phial was unstopped it would flow out as a cloud of smoke and envelop the person who had released it. Thus its prey was trapped and it would return to its master and deliver the victim's soul to it. It would then return to the bottle and replace the stopper by magic.[3]
There were legends on Titan of certain adventurers travelling to the Infernal Pit and rescuing the souls of their comrades imprisoned there by the Nanka.[3]
Nanka were only vulnerable to magical weapons and holy water; normal weapons would not injure them.[2][4]
Origins and Distribution[]
It was said that these beings were created in response to the creation of the suma, but they were not related to them in any way.[2]
They were sent to Titan by their masters to ensnare the souls of certain mortals (normally those who would defy the malign plans of the Dark Lords and their minions) and to transport those souls to the Void for their masters to feed upon.[2]
Nanka had also been recorded working with the Demon Princes as intermediaries between the the Dark Lords and the Princes. [4] Nanka dwelt in the Plane of Ichor region of the Pit.[1]
