Pangaria is a floating archipelago in a calm region of the tempest Zephyrus above the Ocean of Tempests.

Description[]

It is a set of five islands surrounding a sixth smaller one, Nimbus, which houses the Citadel, the seat of Pangaria's government.[1] Pangaria is a small but peaceful realm, home to Humans, Goblins, and Stormborns, and is protected by the Sky Watch.[1][2]

Pangaria is home to technomancy, a combination of magic and engineering, which is used to keep the islands aloft, and to create some of the most advanced technology in the world, far beyond the rest of Titan, such as flyer airships and diving bathyspheres.[1]

History[]

Geography[]

The islands of Pangaria are:

Government[]

Pangaria is administered from the Citadel on the central island of Nimbus. This acts as the home of the archipelago's lawmakers, diplomats and island officials.[1] The Pangarian authorities control direct access to the Ocean of Tempests, granting that right only to the fishing isle of Incus and preventing access from all other islands.[2] Pangaria has rules, including that of protecting its secrecy from the outside world, which is one of the first taught to any outsiders that have been rescued, who in order to keep the rule must permanently remain on Pangaria.[2]

Technology[]

Pangaria has technology far in advance of the rest of Titan, developed by Goblin technomancers using a blend of elemental magic and engineering.[1]

This technomancy includes the power to keep the islands of Pangaria in the air.[1] It also allows for the creation of various devices such as artificial wing-like hovers powered by storm crystals, and vehicles like the small flyer airships used as transport between the islands, and diving bathyspheres such as the Barnacle.[1][5]

Military[]

Law enforcement and emergency response is the responsibility of the Sky Watch.[1]

Population[]

While most of its residents are Human, Pangaria is notable for the inclusion of Goblins in the general population. Although Goblins elsewhere on Titan have a reputation for aggression, Goblins of Pangaria are well-integrated into society.[1]

Very occasionally, Pangarian fishermen from Incus find and rescue shipwreck survivors from the outside world.[2] If they need help that cannot be given by the fishermen, they are brought to Pangaria and given aid and sanctuary, but must remain there permanently to ensure that Pangaria remains a secret from the rest of the world.[2]

Culture[]

The realm of Pangaria is a very peaceful one, and the residents aim to ensure it stays that way by keeping their existence a secret from the rest of Titan.[1][2] Their trade with the mainland is limited and only from trusted sources, who are never allowed to set foot on Pangaria.[2]

Most Human residents join the specialist working communities of their home island, but their choice of profession is not completely fixed.[1] Goblins fill the ranks of the Technomancers and flyer pilots, and are also stallholders on Cumulus the isle of trade.[1][6][7]

Residents are known to keep pets, and garden with trees, shrubs and flowers.[1][8] The children of Pangaria are also known to make friends from across the archipelago, not just from their own island.[1]
