In 285AC, the city-state of Chalice was ruled by the aged King Pindar.

History[]

Mindful of his advancing years and the threats to his city-state from the forces of Evil, King Pindar sought an alliance with the more powerful kingdom of Salamonis. A marriage was arranged between King Pindar's son, Prince Barinjhar, and the daughter of King Salamon LVII, Princess Sarissa.[1]

Barinjhar betrayed his father by letting Sarissa be kidnapped by the evil wizard, Xortan Throg. Barinjhar revealed his treachery to a group of adventurers sent to rescue Sarissa. The adventurers killed Barinjhar.

The revelation of Barinjhar's treachery and his death caused Pindar much grief, resulting in King Salamon sending Pindar his condolences.[2] Since Barinjhar was Pindar's only child, the succession to to the throne of Chalice was now in doubt.
