A Rhino-Man was a warlike humanoid with the head of a rhinoceros.
Description[]
The typical Rhino-Man stood just short of three metres in height, if one included the distance by which their horns rose above their heads. They were humanoid, with incredibly thick grey skin and a rhinocerine head, complete with ears that could be moved independently of each other, small pig-like eyes and a pair of horns on their snout.[1][2]
They had three fingers and a thumb on each hand, and their feet possessed only vestiges of toes, being largely little more than a mass of muscled flesh. Rhino-Men in general were incredibly strong and skilled warriors, though their general clumsiness and surly natures made them poor soldiers unless tutored from birth. They were not inherently Evil, however, just temperamental. Some Rhino-People were Good or Neutral.[2]

Rhino-People spoke their own distinct language, known as Rhino-Speech; some also spoke the Common Tongue. Rhino-Men sometimes left their villages and travelled across the land, seeking employment. Rhino-Men often worked as soldiers, dockers in ports, "bouncers" for inns, or even Adventurers.[2] Other members of the species (Adult Rhino-Women, and young Rhino-People) were rarely seen by outsiders.[2]
Rhino-People worshipped the god Fourga; it was not known if they also had a deity in the Animal Court.[2] Rhino-men were known to domesticate Rhinoceroses for use as battle-steeds, though it was rare for a tribe to have more than six such beasts.[3]
Rhino-Men and Craggeracks hated one another, and would usually attack each other if they met.[4]
Origins and Distribution[]
It is believed that the original Rhino-Man or men were created by an insane sorcerer (Some say Marrangha)[5] several centuries ago, but rebelled and killed him. What is certain is that they are fairly rare creatures and rely more on physical rather than intellectual strength throughout their lives, serving as formidable and loyal guards to those who can afford their services.
Rhino-People are most common in the wildest regions of Allansia, such as the Flatlands, the Moonstone Hills and the Plains of Bronze and of Bones. It is unknown whether or not there are any rhino-men in the Old World or Khul who did not emigrate there from Allansia.
Notable Rhino-People[]
- Uzgork Ironhide was an acclaimed rhino-man gladiator who fought in the Port Blacksand Sports Arena. [6]

- Zharradan Marr was known to command several legions of Rhino-Men, though how he managed to secure or even acquire the services of these rare and relatively Neutral beings is unknown. Marr often sent troops of Rhino-Men to attack his enemy Balthus Dire, during the Trolltooth Wars.[7] One notable Rhino-Man was Legionnaire 29, who escaped from the Training Grounds after learning that his sister had also managed to escape from Marr's territory - though both their fates are unknown.[8]
- Balthus Dire was also known to employ Rhino-Men as guards and soldiers at his Citadel.[9]
