Rocs, also known as Giant Rocs, were birds of prey of enormous size and strength found mainly in Khul.[1]

Description[]

The wingspan of a roc could be up to thirty-two feet or so long, though twenty was considered more normal. They preyed on almost anyting, first knocking their food prone with great gusts of air from their wings.

Male rocs would simply devour any food, females would bring it to any young of theirs first. Roc eggs were extremely valuable.

Origins and Distribution[]

Rocs could be found on all three continents, whether the tallest mountains of the Old World or the more temparate areas of southern Allansia.

The two most famous Rocs of Khul was the Roc of the Inland Sea after whom the island upon which it nests is named, and second the Roc of the Valley of Diamonds in central Khul.[2] The Air Brigands of Gundobad in northern Khul used Rocs as riding mounts.[3] Rocs are also found near Kallamehr in southern Allansia.[4]

Further Notes[]

Prince Barinjhar of Chalice used the expression "within two shakes of a roc's tail" in a speech.[5]
