Sea Dragons were a type of aquatic and treacherous dragon.
Description[]
The typical sea dragon would grow up to about 30 metres in length, exchanging the greater weight and overall size of their land cousins for a more streamlined form, and their scales were a brilliant green-blue. They had a massive fin-like ridge along the top and back of their skulls, but only small ridges down the rest of their length. Their snouts were also extremely pointed, resembling more a beak than anything else, and their eyes were far larger than those of their land cousins.
They had no wings or front legs, possessing instead a pair of relatively small but extremely dexterous fins about a sixth of the way down their body, and webbed feet with small claws about halfway down. The rest of their length was tail, ending in a wide fin that they used to help them turn and for speed bursts.
Origins and Distribution[]
Sea dragons were found only in the depths of the oceans,[1] lurking among reefs and within caves, waiting for ships to smash on the corals and rocks before tearing through the weakened hulls and taking any gold they fond. They were moulded into this form by Hydana rather than Kilanirax, since the Sea god was infamous for simply taking things from the surface to adapt to his own watery realm.
Special Abilities[]
Sea Dragons were confined to the underwater realms, and possessed a breath weapon of vomiting forth great clouds of steaming water. They retained the awesome strength of land Dragons, as well as the ability to speak several languages, of both humanoid and animal races.
Further Notes[]
- Sea Dragons were one of the few Dragon races that are not mentioned in Out of the Pit. They also fail to make an appearance in Night Dragon along with the other major kinds of Dragon. They were later mentioned in Beyond the Pit.
