As loathsome and grotesque as their cousins on land, the Sea Hags were a race of twisted crones that lived underwater.
Description[]
Sea hags possessed gills which allowed them to breathe underwater.
In the underwater realms, the magic of Black and Silver Pearls is greatly coveted by these hideous crones, and they hoarded them even more jealously than most of the races that they shared the seas with.
As with normal hags, they tended to worship the witch goddess Shekka.
Origins and Distribution[]
Sea hags dwelt in hidden caves, murky grottos and foul passages, gathering anything magical about them to increase their power.[1]
Special Abilities[]
Sea hags were significantly more well versed in magic than normal land-based hags.
As might be expected, Sea Hags were particularly fond of curses and lesser spells that weakened or confused, since they were not especially skilled in the ways of battle. Despite this, they were not to be underestimated; and much in their homes often possessed dangerous magic woven into it, making even a victory a risky situation for the would-be adventurer.
Further Notes[]
Sea Hags may be named after the Sea Hag, a regular villain in E. C. Segar's Popeye comic strips, and their later cartoon adaptions.
