A Sentinel was a type of construct normally used as a guardian.[1][2]
Description[]
Sentinels were usually humanoid-shaped things, though they would originally resemble something harmless such as a gold piece or a diamond.[2] Most sentinels were armed with a weapons, such as a sword.[2]
Sentinels were typically divided into gem sentinels made from gems or metal sentinels made from metal,[2] though a sentinel made from wood had also been encountered.[3]
A sentinel could only be harmed by normal weaponry if its assailant was holding something of the same material from which it was made (holding a gold nugget for a gold sentinel), for example.[2]
Origins and Distribution[]
Sentinels were first created for Baron Kognoy of Kaypong, though they later became more widespread amongst nobles and spellcasters.[2] They were crafted by pouring a specially made potion, which was then poured onto an item.
When touched by bare skin for the first time (the creator would typically wear gloves whilst working), the item would transform into a sentinel of the same material and attack. If defeated a sentinel would revert back to being the item.[2]
