The Shield Maidens of Lumlé are a group of warrior women who patrol the coasts of Lake Lumlé.

Description[]

According to one source, the order of the Shield Maidens of Lumlé were established shortly before the Rise of Kakhabad. The Shield Maidens of Lumlé are described as "Lawful beings" who protect peasants in the Lake Lumlé region from attacks from pirates and monsters.[1]

A captain of a slave galley in Kharé has been heard to relate the tale of how his life was saved when Vik, the well known resident of Kharé, rescued him "from the clutches of the Shield Maidens of Lumlé".[2]

According to In Search of the Mungies' Gold, the Shield Maidens patrol the forests around Lake Lumlé. They are young women who wear chainmail armour, carry spears or swords, and wield circular shields. A typical Shield Maiden has a skill of 7 and a stamina of 6. They known little of the Common Speech of the Old World, so communication between them and outsiders can be difficult. They will attack anyone who approaches their territory who does not know their password; however, travellers who speak the password will be allowed to pass through in peace. [3]

Notable Shield-Maidens[]

  • Myrteles Sureshot was a former shield-maiden, who was exiled from the order for undisclosed reasons.[4]
