Silver Dragons were a species of dragon.
Description[]
The typical silver dragon would rarely grow beyond twenty-five metres long, and their scales were a brilliant silver. They were especially spiky for dragons, with several short horns and spines around their heads, and a row of spines down their back, ending about halfway down down their tail.
As with all dragons, their wingspan was easily that of their full length, and their tongue was not forked, which was a common misconception. However, their eyes were still dangerous to look into without permission,[1] as they could easily hypnotise a human or crush their spirit.
The majority of silver dragons could speak several languages, of both humanoid and animal races, and many adults are likely to possess magical abilities also.
Origins and Distribution[]
Silver dragons were the the second most powerful of the dragon races, presumably made second only to the gold. This may well have explained the rivalry between the two, owing to the silver dragons' jealousy of the gold's status amongst Dragonkind.[2]
They preferred to inhabit the more desolate of wastes in Northern lands, well removed from other creatures[3], as they wwere bad-tempered and aggressive. However, silver dragons were not restricted to these climates, as was proved by the presence of a miniature one in the Reaver's Roost.
Special Abilities[]
A silver dragon had cold for its breath, using it in combat and striking up to two enemies at once with it, should they fail to avoid. The cold breath of an Adult Dragon will freeze away large amounts, but the breath of a Young Dragon was weaker and less damaging.
Further Notes[]
- For some unexplained reason, there is intense rivalry between the gold and silver dragons, though things haven't become violent for a long time. Silver Dragons also had a considerable fear of fire, and would rather give away a part of their vast hoards than face several creatures wielding it against them[4].
