Southern Mask Magic, as practiced by Pen Ty Kora is a rare style of magic that makes use of masks to cast spells. It is mainly focused on healing spells, and increasing abilities like sight and hearing.[1][2][3][4]
Description[]
This style of magic is famous because, if mastered at the highest levels, it is strong enough to counter even the effects of a Death Spell.
Mask Magic is mainly practiced in Southern Allansia (continent), in Arantis and in the city-states on the coast of the Glimmering Sea. The Temple of the earth-goddess of Kaynlesh-Ma is considered to be the most important learning centre for Mask Magic.[1] However, Mask Magic is also performed in locations elsewhere on Titan.[5] Mask Magic is a demanding process that requires a large investment of time, so many Mask Magicians become hermits to devote themselves fully to their demanding craft.[2]
Notable Practitioners[]
Pen Ty Kora studied Mask Magic in Kaynlesh-Ma (Arantis), before moving to the Moonstone Hills to practise his art.
Morgana, the "Fell Sorceress of Krill Garnash", was also an expert practitioner of Mask Magic.[6]
Tejari Pri, an adventurer from Agra, was a Mask Magician.[7]

Southern Mask Magic is described in detail also by AFF rulebook extension Heroes Companion, at pages 12-15, although it is mentioned that it may be more suitable for NPCs, rather than for Heroes.
