The Templars are an elite order of warrior-priests.
Description[]
They have branches of the order based in both Gallantaria (based in Royal Lendle) and Ruddlestone (based in the Demonkeep Outpost).[1]. The Ruddlestonian Templars keep constant watch over troublesome Brice, as well as fighting Demons and Undead who threaten Ruddlestone.[2] Each Ruddlestonian Templar must take an oath to " to strive to wipe out Evil and Chaos wherever they may be found, and always to uphold the honour of your order".[3] The Templars in Ruddlestone serve the God Telak.[4]
History[]
Around 1688 OT, a group of Templar Knights from Ruddlestone attacked the city of Kharé[5]
The Gallantarian Templars were established shortly after the War of the Wizards and are devoted to conquering Chaos within the kingdom. They operate out of the Sacred Citadel of the Templars in Royal Lendle.[6]
Further Notes[]
- The Templars are named after the historical Order of Knights Templar, a Christian order of Knights who existed between 1119AD and 1312AD, and who fought in the Crusades in the Middle East.
- According to one source, a knight overheard the Seven Words of Akkarra from the very mouth of the powerful wizard Akkarra, as he fought a Land-Blight in Mauristatia, soon after King Mauristat passed away and the Templar Knights can still deal with Land-Blights thanks to him.[7]
