The Crown of Kings is a powerful magical artifact, owned by King Chalanna of Femphrey, that brings peace and justice to the realm of any ruler who wears it. It is not clear how King Chalanna obtained the Crown, but it is "thought to be a gift from the devious Netherworld Sorcerers of the Cragrock Peaks".[1] The date on which King Chalanna obtained The Crown of Kings is unknown, but we can work back from the date on which the Crown was stolen from Analand by the Birdmen of Xamen given in The Fighting Fantasy 10th Anniversary Yearbook. This fateful event occurred on Stormsday 16th of Watching, 283 AC.[2]
Since the Crown is described in Titan - The Fighting Fantasy World as having recently passed to Analand, which was already beginning to reap the benefits associated with it,[1] and since Titan - The Fighting Fantasy World is written from the perspective of 284 AC being the "present day",[3] it is likely that the Crown passed to Analand in or around 282 AC.
We know that each nation in the Old World has taken possession of the Crown for four years and that, prior to Analand taking possession of it, it was held in turn by Ruddlestone, Lendleland, Gallantaria and Brice.[4] This being the case, the timeline for the Crown of Kings is something along the lines of the following:
- Early 260s AC - Chalanna obtains the Crown of Kings
- 266 AC - the Crown passes to Ruddlestone
- 270 AC - the Crown passes to Lendleland
- 274 AC - the Crown passes to Gallantaria
- 278 AC - the Crown passes to Brice
- 282 AC - the Crown passes to Analand
- 283 AC - the Crown is stolen from Analand by the Birdmen of Xamen, working for the Archmage
