Background[]

Jealous of Baron Sukumvit’s Deathtrap Dungeon, Lord Carnuss faced six hundred shackled souls to build the ultimate dungeon on Blood Island. He filled the labyrinth with savage creatures and deadly traps, and offered the fabled prize of the Golden Orb of Fang to any brave Adventurer who could find it and from the dungeon alive.

Further Notes[]

Errors[]

  • (8) and (385) refer a swarm of biting insects as "BLACK FLY". This is probably an error as the plural of "Black Fly" is "Black Flies".
  • (69) says "He is man" without the indefinite article "a".
  • (73) says the passageway heads north out of the cavern, but (30) says it heads east, and (3) says "you head east again".
  • (89) says you continue north.  But soon after, (159) and (282) describe turning right to go north?
  • (118) and (283) are both encounters with the same enemy, but the combat modifier to the monster's damage from (283) is not mentioned at (118), despite there being no narrative reason for it not applying.
  • (161) says "throw the key up to Hobgoblin" without the definite article "the".
  • (270) asks you to leave behind "all your treasure and gold", but the book does not explain what constitutes "treasure". There is actually very little in the way of traditional "treasure" (eg, valuable with a Gold Piece value, jewels) to be found in the book, which makes this all the more puzzling.
  • (283) says "You conquer you fear".
  • (293) and (319) miss the word "to" when instructing you to "turn" to another section number.
  • (293) and (319) do not typeset the section numbers in bold text.
  • (319) allows you to lose your sword, but there are no rules included for how to conduct unarmed combat
  • (320) says you hear footsteps from the east end of the tunnel.  But per (207) and (124), this tunnel runs south-to-north.
  • (320) says "you hear footsteps from east end of the tunnel." It is missing the word "the".
  • (324) has the Dragonmaster state that the rules of the dice game are "Highest total wins." But this doesn't address what happens if the results are equal: in fact, the Dragonmaster also wins if the rolls are equal.
  • (381) has the Dragonmaster ask you to put the keys on the table, even though he has already requested this previously at (32) and you then did so at (239).
  • Page 254 duplicates steps 6 and 7.  Furthermore, steps 2 and 5 misidentify the step numbers (2 should reference steps 3 and 4, 5 should reference steps 1-5.)
  • Page 257 does not state that you cannot eat Provisions during combat, even though this is usually the case in other Fighting Fantasy books and even though this book states you cannot drink the starting potions during combat.
